easyJet's free bag is one of the largest among European low-cost airlines. At 45 x 36 x 20 cm it is 5 cm longer and 6 cm wider than the 40 x 30 x 20 cm limit used by Ryanair, Wizz Air and Vueling, so a bag made for easyJet will not always fit those airlines. A bag made for 40 x 30 x 20 cm fits easyJet with room to spare.

The 15 kg weight limit applies to the free bag and to the large cabin bag. You must be able to lift the bag into the locker yourself. If you bring a large cabin bag without having paid for one, it can be taken at the gate and put in the hold for a fee.

The size includes wheels and handles. That matters for small wheeled under-seat cases, where the wheels can take 2 to 3 cm of the 20 cm depth. A soft backpack uses the full space and squashes to fit the sizer.

Tips for flying easyJet

  • If you also fly Ryanair or Wizz Air, buy a 40 x 30 x 20 cm bag: it fits all three.
  • Weigh the bag at home; 15 kg is more than most people need, but books and shoes add up fast.
  • Put chargers, passport and medicines in the free bag, in case a large bag is moved to the hold.
