Resistance bands
Resistance bands are the cheapest way to add load to a workout without weights. A band stretches further the harder you pull, so the same set covers warm-ups, glute and hip work, upper-body pulls and rehab exercises a physio might give you.
About resistance bands
We sell three types. Long or flat sets come in graded strengths, so you can move up a level as you get stronger. Mini loop bands sit around the thighs or ankles for hip and glute exercises. Ankle straps clip a band or cable to your leg for kickbacks and abductions.
How to choose
- Start lighter than you think. Good form with a lighter band beats a heavy band you cannot control.
- Buy a set rather than one band, so you have somewhere to go as you progress.
- Mini loop bands suit lower-body work; longer bands suit presses, rows and stretches.
- Check bands for nicks or tears before each use and store them out of direct sunlight.
Questions
Which resistance band should a beginner use?
Start with the lightest or second-lightest band in a set. If you can do 15 controlled repetitions easily, move up one level.
Can I use resistance bands every day?
Light band work such as warm-ups and mobility can be done daily. For harder strength sessions, give the same muscles a day to recover.
